The Waves

This was a black and white 8x10 wood cut print I created in my intermediate printmaking class. The goal of this assignment was to pick a historical printmaking artist and one of their works. Then, once we chose our subject water, we were instructed to crop out a small portion of that work to create an abstracted piece. My subject matter was a lion and chicken by Albrecht Durer. I zoomed in on the feathers which, when cropped, looked like waves, so that was what I decided to focus on.
